COME JOIN US AT 歌谣2007：实线梦想！

1. Who is it organized by?
HCI (College Section) CHINESE SOCIETY! :D

2. Hmm…what is that event?
It is a Chinese songwriting competition organized for students across JCs and Polytechnics in Singapore. The event itself will witness the finalists who will present their songs and be critiqued by our honoroable judges, namely:
Anson Tan (Touch Music Publishing), Peng Chi Sheng (Harbridge Music and Media), Peter Tan (Music Clinic, Project Superstar Judge) and Lester Low (VI Music).

This competition encourages students to let their creative juices flow and compose songs (melody/lyrics) of any genre. After the event, you might also be inspired to venture into song-writing too :D

3. Okay…but why should I go? Date? Time? Venue? And how much does it cost?
Well you should go because you are paying for a good cause! :D Your presence endorses their efforts to continue composing, what’s the use of having composed a really (insert words of praise!) song but without any audience to perform to?
And who knows, you might witness the debut of a future-superstar! :D

It will be held on the 18th August 2007 (Saturday), 7pm in Hwa Chong Institution (College Section) Cheng Yi Auditorium.

And it costs O-N-L-Y $8.00
(NOTE: INclusive of GST!).

4. Well alright, I need a little more persuasion…so what can I expect?
Gosh my dear, you can expect a lot! :D There will be song performances altogether from students across Singapore. We have gotten a professional emcee who's guaranteed to be lively and entertaining! :) Prominent amongst the judges is Peter Tan, Music Clinic & Project Superstar judge. Are we going to witness another round of tongue-lashing comments/criticisms? Who knows. You have to come down personally to find out! AND…THAT'S NOT ALL. Guest performances will be put up by singers from Ai Qing Hai Music School etc (guest performaners' identities will be revealed one by one as the date draws nearer...)

Alright, I want to go! But one last thing, where will the profits go to? (though NKF scandal has blown over, it’s still wise to be more cautious about whether I’m really supporting a worthy cause…)
Oh come on, the profits will go to the Chinese Society CCA Fund. The Fund is used to support many other events e.g. Drama Camp for secondary school students and An Evening Of Drama 2008 [huangcheng 2008] production.

GUESS WHAT? we had this new IHC tcher in skool finally after 3yrs of Ms. Teo. LOL. 1st ting she said was tat as a new teacher in the skool, it wld b nice of us to go up one by one to her n welcome her to hwa chong. so we were supposed to go up to the front of the class n shake her hand n say 'welcome to hwachong'. tats nt the most stupid part. hahahah. cos liao wei chi is index no. 16 n liao wei chi is index no. 17
so up went liao wei chi n welcomed her on her left then he walked away. then liao wei ming spring up on her right. then we started saeing weiming looks a lot lke wei chi. then she look look look then haf the same feeling as us. then continued 2 hongshen then bla bla. then dunno how come later whn she was walking ard the class whn she walked near 2 weichi n weiming seats, she suddenly exclaimed 'oh so both of us are brothers!' itz lke so so lag can! itz lke 10mins after she met them then she realised they r brothers -.- anyway, weiming is sitting in front of weichi. damn guai lan. LOL. then whn new tchers come in n ask us how 2 differentiate, we keep saeing weichi is the more shuai one n weiming is the uglier one. -__-" damn badd la we!

okk. so we met every tcher todae le except Mr. Limth, who's gonna teach us chem instead of dvtcl. LOL. =( anyway, mr png was lke damn spastic la! whn he going thru the class list one by one he will give some comments de. lke LIN CHEN YI DIAN! damn lame can. then later he go to sin yuan's name thn he sae i guess ure a PRC cos he din teach him in sec 2 wad. then the whole class burst out laughing. LOL. then later he ask hu was exempted then the other PRCs raised up their hands except Jin Di then he lke damn shocked sae how come ure nt exempted. then we started laughing agn la! LOL.

hahahahhahah! itz a long time since i blogged. dunno y blogging wasnt the 1st ting i wanted 2 do whn i returned back 2 singapore. sighh. itz already 2006, a brand new year, a brand new start. i cant believe im lke already in sec 4. itz lke so so fast. itz quite sad whn i start to tink im already leaving chinese high. I LOVE CHINESE HIGH! unlike others tat r unsure whether they chose the right skool, im one tat feels tat chinese high is the right place for mi n i realli want to be here. hahahah! itz supposed to be the mugging year for all tats taking the o lvls. im realli glad im able 2 make it here so tat i can skip e Os. lol. i realli haf 2 thank my mum for all the nagging during tat intensive period of time. lol. anyway, wish all those takin Os tis yr gd luck. muz mugg hard kae? =)

anyway, going to skool todae realli feels so so different. itz lke im entering a new skool wif a different uniform. realli weird indeed. having lessons in clock tower juz feels so so different frm the classes tat we used 2 haf in the past. itz as if a total new experience. everyting has changed. the classroom environment n atmosphere had changed. the staff room has changed. even the canteen has changed. cool!

it feels realli great seeing every1 back in skool. it realli feels excellent to be back in 4K. the laughing sessions started yet again. hahahah! whn wangwy tok for abt 5mins then dunno y we can start laughing out of nothing already. it realli brightens up ur skool life. makes life in skool more enjoying. seeing those familiar faces in class agn lke hongshen n chengyi was realli quite heart warming. :) hahahah.. after skool oso saw ppl lke tingwei chaijone dianjun n junjie. it suddenly feels so nice 2 b back in skool. hahahah. lee guan hui realli looked pretty odd wif his new hair cut. LOL.

anyway, i cant believe mr ng gonna b council mentor of ortus council. i was lke so stunned whn ms koe said it during the consortium assembly todae la. lol. i hope he has a nice time wif the councillors. hahahahah!

todae after skool oso went 2 staff room n gave shiehls the gift tat xiayan n i bought for her at yan dang shan. sighhh. itz realli saddd tat she cant even teach us chinese at all. she cant bear to leave us. we cant bear to see her leave. sighhh. dunno y itz lke damn sadd can. =(

tml first lessons HISTORY! YAY! MRS GIAM! i anticipate her lessons la. itz lke i went to see her todae at her desk to confirm tat she's the one teachin us ihe tis semester. she was lke saeing ya n i was so gladd can. i tink she cld see the glee in my face. those in hci shld noe y. then i sae tml 1st lesson her lesson then she was lke saeing HUH! she totally dunno tml 1st period is her lesson liao la. she ji xiadao. lol. itz no surprise since she's so bz as the form tcher of 3K tis yr. she seemed lke she hafnt prepared for it then she immediately sae 'nvm. sure damn zai one. dun worry.' LOL. HAHAHAHAH. i love mrs. giam la! she's damn farnie can. LOL.

FINALLY! laz dae of skool todae.. itz over! =D i cant believe it myself too.. itz lke sec 3 passed so quickly.. but well, it was quite an eventful year though.. anyway, i'll juz hope tat we can realli squeeze it thru in2 the tower block.. if we dun n get kicked out by 3N, let it b la.. tower block a little more glamourous onli la.. LOL.. sighh.. letting Ortus down.. onli 1 class in tower block.. hahahah.. but letz stay optimistic n see how it turns out.. anyway, my msg exceeded expectations.. realli.. well, i tot i was the most unlucky person during the exams, but dunno y i became the luckiest person.. hahahah.. luck doesnt stay wif mi 4eva, means i realli haf 2 buck up if i wanna achieve gd grades agn nxt yr.. JIAYOU!

anyway, i'll see leaving for wenzhou n shanghai tml.. time flies real fast n itz time for the exchange program.. sorta looking forward to it.. but still haf lotsa last min packing to do.. hahahahah.. i placed everything nxt 2 my luggage budden hafnt put in yet.. lol.. i dun tink it can squeeze in la.. i'll see wad souvenirs im gonna buy..

oh gawd.. sighh.. i guessed some1 cursed mi 2 do badly 4 tis yr's exams.. haiyah.. okk.. 1st was chinese paper.. screwed up paper 2.. 67/110! wlao.. it shows tat my chinese standard is realli realli low la.. haf 2 buck up if nt nxt yr o lvl higher chinese sure die one la.. so itz 135/200 = 68%. meaning overall 74. okk lo. A2. performed below expectations. :(

then was physics.. okk.. sry la ppl.. i realli tot i screwed up the entire paper.. turned out 2 b quite well.. those tat were expected 2 b screwed were screwed, but surprisingly the others tat werent supposed 2 b screwed was quite well done.. okk.. at least i din waste my money at physics tuition.. so overall 74 AGAIN. another A2, but im still quite satisfied. performed above expectations. :)

then was bio.. okk lo.. 9 A1s in class and I was the last one with a pathetic 74.5.. okk la.. still quite okk.. but could haf been beta.. mebbe i will nt drop bio after all.. hahahahah.. but itz realli quite stress la.. then nxt yr sec 4 stress level even higher.. i'll reconsider my choice then.. performed above expectations. :)

i heard the clz did realli badly for maths.. the news is extremely saddening.. tat effectively ended our hopes of tower block.. class msg of ard 4.06.. tat is lke omg.. sighh.. en loong realli din do 25m.. siao la.. budden still overall A1.. gd for him.. LIN CHEN! ji nt mugg hor.. physics 89 top in class then maths oso 89 top in class.. win liao la.. then got xia yan n sin yuan damn meng.. somemore xia yan one dae b4 bio exam still call mi ask mi so many qns lke he nv mugg over the weekends at all.. okk lo.. win liao la! 84.5.. gd la.. i finally understood this fren of mine after 3yrs.. itz realli saddening whn i start counting which position i'll get in class.. sighh.. nvm.. all i can do is 2 pia sec 4 n get good grades nxt yr n juz hope tat the curse doesnt come back.. sighh..

LOL! anyway, my entire holidays realli got time mugg lo.. no time at all.. 9 Nov to 18 Dec go China for BSP exchange program then 19 Dec to 21 Dec Selection Camp.. wahh.. quite packed sia.. haiyahh.. dun mugg la.. anyway, i went for my SECOND trng todae! damn qin rite.. LOL.. ran 3km onli.. quite fun la.. all run together around the field.. we're lke having fun la.. suddenly shuang then box kaiming.. then leon will b down there ji spastic ask kenneth tell him joke.. SRR got 3rd for Grand Finals! =D Anyway, well done Nigel! Congrats on winning! ;)

HAHAHAHA. Almost screwed up the presentation when the mike failed. Luckily, we were able to project our voices. However, it resulted in me concentrating on projecting my voice and neglecting the elocution part n all the gestures. nvm. Its all over. We're really very lucky that we got into the top 3. We must be grateful that we are already the 3rd out of the dunno how many hundreds of teams participating in Projects Day this year. I was quite surprised that the judges said they liked our project idea. I screwed up the Q&A session initially, but we later proved to them we had a deep understanding in our product by answering fairly well. LOL. The judges ask one question, then lets say Kai Ming answer. Then Leon will add on. Then I add on somemore. LOL.

I was really surprised that DEME didnt get into top 3 at all. I'm so surprised. I cant believe that actually got the Merit Award. I thought you all presented really well. All 3 of us, Kai Ming Leon and I, said last night that DEME is a sure-win one, unless they really screw up the whole presentation. After the presentation, I was thinking okay, maybe not sure-win, but still high chance of top 3. Really a disappointment. But, you all still have numerous external competitions that can submit for next year right? So, cheer up kae?

Anyway, Tse Siong, if you can't believe we won you all, we cant too. It was quite a miracle, considering how we screwed up the presentation yesterday. Moreover, our script wasnt even finalised until yesterday. To be exact, yesterday night, 10.30pm.

Oh yes, everyone was saying leefy's laptop was damn lagg. It really was. Ended up screwing the video of the race. Can't really blame him. The file size of all 10 Grand Finalists should have been around 5GB big. Ours was already 600MB. That was an area to be improved on.

Moreover, I think they should change the way of announcing the results of the Grand Finalists. They really shouldnt announce in order of the presentation while making known the consolation prizes. It's like Group 2,3 and 5 top 3. Then the excitement not there le. The rest of the 5 groups can just prepare and go get the consolation prizes. Moreover, it didnt make the Bronze team really happy that they got third, like Mrs. Jane Ittogi Shanmuragatnam's example in her speech today. The excitement really wasnt there. Maybe the tension was quite high when guessing for the champion and the runner up. I'm saying this coz we got third. HAHAHAHAHA. But seriously, they should just randomly give out consolation prizes instead of according to order of presentation. Then they can start building the tension when giving out the last consolation prize. If it was done this way, I'm sure we would be really really happy today, although we're really glad we made it into the top 3.

Mentor, Ms. Gwee Hana
Thanks for all of your invaluable advice and guidance. Thanks for guiding us through the entire process of the competition. Taking out time to hear us rehearse especially before shortlisting and the actual Grand Finals. I'll always remember the times the four of us had together. Leon with his extremely comedian-like actions and looks. Kai Ming and his spastic comments and jokes. You and your brilliant ideas. I thought the final script that we used today was of really good substance. If we had more time to rehearse and memorise our script, we wouldn't look so stiff today. Like I said, it was only finalised 10.30pm last night. Imagine that.

Thanks for shouting out 15! If not we sure die one. Those sec 1s HUM JI dun dare shout. Thanks Long Yi! One fish burger for u! Thanks for taking part in the production of our video too. You should also thank us for putting your spastic actions onto the big screen when talking about perserverance. LOL.

ORTUS NITE ended last nite. our performance was absolutely top class. there was no doubt about it, was there? HAHAHAHAHHAA! pawned all others. =D

i'll take this opportunity to APPRECIATE some of the people for making this performance such a success:

Jin Hao
Our top class overall i/c who has appeared the mosts times on the stage was indeed a key in our skit being carried out in such a fashionable manner. Everything could not have been done without him. All the scripts and the songs etc. Voda Voda was done so well because of your wonderful accent. Don't feel sad over losing to Si Yao. =D Thong Chai songs were really very zai. Although the mike was a little faulty, thus a little anti-climax, everyone could hear how well you sang all his songs. Baby mama was all damn zai. Don't forget Mo Li Hua! =D

Hong Shen
Look at the difference between our rehearsal and our actual performance. Our rehearsal was totally screwed and there were many absentees who include Mark and Wang Lin. Many of us thought we were doomed. However, Hong Shen managed to put the class together yet another time. All of us went back to class to rehearse everything again to make sure everything was well coordinated. It is all thanks to him that we do not see the errors present in the rehearsal as mentioned by Xia Yan.

Yi Cheng
Thanks for the classy coordination back stage. Many did not realise your importance, but the coordination of the entire skit made it a very fantastic one. Without it, i'm sure we will not be able to reach the climax of the skit and make the audience burst out laughing.

Ding Yi
His presence during all the rehearsals really made our performance such a comical one. He never fails to put forth some really very funny ideas that can make the audience laugh.

Ge Wei
Our class chairman did really well in bringing to whole skit to the highest point even though it was just at the start of the whole skit. It is clearly evident your spastic looks won the crowd over. The numerous claps justify everything.

Chen Sin
Chen Sin was always there during rehearsals to provide some very good ideas to improve on our skit. Like Jin Hao, he also appeared quite a number of times on stage. He shouted 'CNA raid' in such an exhilarating manner. Wonderful.

Wei Chi
Ji cool emcee for the Superstar. He also provided some very good advice on how to improve on our skit. 'Ru guo yao zhi chi S1 Zhang Ge Wei, qing sms S1 dao 78277 huo da 1800 112 1001'. bagus.

Rui An
Our Ortus Council chairman also played a major role in the entire skit, despite needing to coordinate the whole Ortus Nite along with Alex. Baby mama was wonderful. Marcus and Rui An. Perfect Match. His cute cute voice was a major factor why CHA CHA CHA could turn out so well.

Marcus
Damn cute la Marcus. Crawling on the floor towards Rui An. I could well hear everyone laughing at the difference in sizes, especially people like Ernest. Well done!

Guan Hui
A solo performance by our young cuddly guy who has just taken EXTRIM! HAHAHAHAHAHA. Wondeful solo performance on stage. Everyone started laughing when hearing extrim and looking at your size(not despise). Great job.

Jia Wei
HAHAHAHAHAH. Jia Wei flopped so many times during rehearsals. LOL. 'yao bang jia you qian ren de nu yong shi, yi ding yao ba hai zi ye bang lai' =S HAHAHAHHA. But his drama skills were really put into good use during the maid advertisement. Along with Jin Hao saying 'We are already here, sir', it really made the maid advertisement such a success.

Hong Wei
Nation Liye Nu Yong! HAHAHAHAHAHA. damn funny. Starting already shout bang jia, then jia wei walk out then everyone laugh like hell! fabulous!

Bernard
You did really well during the drug advertisements. Although the shouting of the different names were only implemented during the final rehearsals, i think you really acted it out really well. Did you hear the laughter from the crowd? =D

Wang Lin
Your stupid accent really worked out rather well this time. Although i prefer the one during BSP camp. HAHAHAHAHAHA. great job. bagus.

Ying Han
cute maid. HAHAHAHAHA. Without you, it wouldnt be possible for the maid advertisements to be so cool.

Li Long
Thanks for running all the way home just to get more costumes for our performers. Although he didnt play a very significant role, his part in the entire skit was really much appreciated.

I'm out of town for the next few days, thus unable to attend school on Monday and Tuesday. sad. I wont be able to attend the Ortus Nite rehearsals on Monday and Tuesday with our beloved 3K. As you might have already known, I'm currently doing a project entitled "Singapore Runner's Resource" with Kai Ming and Leon. We have recently created an online discussion forum, which will be an important component in our product.

In order for the judges to understand that we have put in a lot of effort and have done a lot of work, we will need a lot of people to post messages, so as to make the forum seem active. However, you will need to register before being able to do that. I survived a succession of Chinese, Chem n Maths tests in 2 daes.. i totally screwed up chinese and maths.. damn! i left out one whole question worth 10marks in chinese.. zai bo.. then maths i tink i got 0 for the question askin the nearest distance.. crapp lah.. tat is 6 marks gone out of the 15 marks tat i can spare.. hmm.. juz hope i dun do too badly.. although i dun tink i realli screwed chem up, i got 8 outta 10 in mcq.. tat is lke so badd.. first term i got full marks for mcq, laz term 9, now 8.. -.- arthur got 9 kae.. i was expecting a 9, after realising i got the 1st question wrong.. sighh.. but i tink open ended i shld do quite well for mi 2 get 40 outta 50! come on! please, i realli wanna get exempted for chem.. sighh.. then there's Physics, Bio n History test nxt wk.. sighh.. three so impt subjeks 2 mi grades.. 1st term was physics fail then msg gone.. then 2nd term was bio fail n humanities fail then msg gone.. sighh.. jiayou!

If not, we still have the December holidays for the Thinkquest next year. Besides the articles, will conduct a video interview with Mr. Elangovan, and hopefully Mr. Ram on Saturday too. Then we will be able to rush the transcripts in time, and write articles on these two Top Local Athletes. Then, i need to pia my Maths ACE over the weekend to hand it all 14 points to Mr. Ng on Monday. I'm sure he will be shocked. HAHA. It would be a waste if i dun get exempted for Maths.. my average score now is like 85%..

For the BSP camp, everyone should reach school by 7.30am in full school uniform.
Although we will not be staying over at the Sports School on the first day, please bring everything specified in the packing list on the first day.
For example, if you decide to 'show off' your guitar skills during the Grand Finale performance, please do remember to bring your guitar with you too. Any CD should be good too.
Also, remember to bring more T-shirts than stated on the packing list.
Lastly, please read the EMB regularly as Mdm Shieh will be posting a message regarding the BSP camp by Monday. Please read it as it is very important.

dun realli feel lke blogging abt OBS.. quite sian actually.. nting much.. nt as fun as expected.. ppl sae until how nice n how extraordinary it is.. i fink itz nting diff frm other camps.. OBS is juz a longer course wif more tyme fer more activities.. will juz briefly go thru.. i tink i din realli experience much more than others.. the hike frm camp2 2 the wild boar infested area was quite fast fer us.. din take more than an hour i tot.. dunno y ppl sae lke they took yrs 2 find tat site.. moreover, we took the longer route lor.. raffles took an even shorter route.. btw, my grp is SHACKLETON.. sounds so cool yea.. ji shagg.. LOL

then 3rd dae oso realli din kayak fer veh long.. ppl sae will kayak wad 16km.. we kayaked fer lke 4 1/2 hrs n finished ard 9km.. nt realli veh long as compared 2 others.. but still it was mentally very exhausting.. needa tell urself 2 keep going on cos the tide is against u n if u dun carry on, u will b brought back by the oncoming waves.. then the 4th dae hike back frm camp1 2 camp2 damn short larhh.. 15mins reach.. LOL.. btw, there was a rain on the 3rd nite.. siao siao.. started pouring at ard 3am.. wth.. i felt water seeping in2 my undies larhh.. wth.. then woke calvin up.. then weiliang n samuel oso woke up nt long l8er.. heard ppl shouting 2 evacuate tents in2 the MPH.. tot it was ernest acting cute.. LOL.. realised was dee-dee.. LOL -.- then slept on the hard grds in MPH wif hanlin they all grp.. LOL.. hanlin was slping on mi right, ernest was slping on mi left.. i suddenly feel they look damn alike lor.. turn left turn right see same person.. LOL..

in fact the camp wasnt as as exciting as i tot larhh.. still nt badd though.. highlight of the camp were the best food in camp1 lor.. wth.. the food there is lke 10times beta than HCIBS food larhh.. wat the.. then another highlight of the camp is BO RUI. he's damn zai can. he climb the rock wall climb halfway then stuck down there. then he struggle 2 try n get his way up. guess wad. he spent 15mins in the same place. wahh. kamu raya pro. wth. on the other wall 3 ppl finish liaoz he still on same spot. if i were him, itz either i try going up or immediately go down. where got lke hang there fer so long. then at the inverted tower oso liddat. i cant help feelin so sad fer siyao larh. cos they were bound by the buddy line then siyao muz oso wait fer brr 2 come up. as usual, brr stun there damn long. LOL.

skool re-started todae. wad a start to the day! rain in the morning. then maths test return. hmm. nt bad result. expected. then eng return. hmm. nt bad result. better than expected. LOL. eng i expected 2 fail! i got 25/50! w0w! hahahaahaz. budden still alot worse than laz term lor. onli left chem n ihe hafnt return. chem most probably tml n ihe on wed.
